We’re excited to announce the relaunch of our website on July 9th.

Why are we changing our website?
Technology and functionality have advanced considerably since our last update and we want our website to be as useful as it is beautiful.

Some of the new features include:

    We are transitioning to a .BANK domain to provide maximum security while you conduct your online banking and enjoy our website.

    The updated responsive design will be just as easy to navigate on your smartphone as it is on your PC monitor. Improved navigation will allow you to easily find just what you are looking for.

We are serious about your security. Starting July 9th, we will replace our current website address, www.firstunited.net, with a new, more secure verified domain – .BANK.

What is a .BANK domain?
.BANK is a verified domain exclusively available to members of the global banking community. Similar to the .GOV domain for government entities and the .EDU domain for educational institutions, .BANK helps prevent customers from accidentally clicking through to a spoofed First United Bank website.

Starting July 9th, if you see www.FirstUnited.BANK in your browser then you can be certain you are communicating and transacting with First United Bank.

Why are we switching to a .BANK domain?
Fraudsters have become skilled at creating convincing replications of bank websites using common domains such as .COM or .NET with the intent of collecting sensitive information for use in financial crimes, identity theft and breaches. A .BANK domain allows us to operate in a secure, online gated community of banks and gives our customers a visual cue that is easily identified. “If it’s .BANK, it’s us.”

How does .BANK protect our customers?

  1. Only verified members of the global banking community are approved for .BANK domain names.
  2. A .BANK domain ensures that our customers are not being misdirected to malicious websites.
  3. All .BANK domains must employ powerful encryption, ensuring strict confidentiality in all online interactions and mitigating exposure to cyber threats.
  4. Mandatory security compliance and monitoring lets our customers conduct sensitive financial transactions and communications online without fear of having their data compromised.

What do you need to do to get ready for the transition?

  1. We will temporarily redirect our old address, www.firstunited.net to the new address, www.firstunited.BANK for a brief transition period. But, it is important for YOUR security that you begin looking for and using the .BANK domain.
  2. Set up a new bookmark for quick access to the online banking login screen.

We want to be your primary financial partner. If you still have recurring payments or direct deposits with other financial institutions then now is the time to make the switch. ClickSWITCH is a turnkey solution that simplifies the switch of direct deposits and recurring payments for new and existing accountholders. Once enrolled, simply input your payee and direct deposit information into the secure system and ClickSWITCH will start contacting your merchants, vendors or depositors to ensure your transactions are switched to your new First United account. ClickSWITCH even has a feature that will initiate the closure of your previous bank account once the switch process is complete.
