Calvin Davis is the District Director of the Lubbock-West Texas District Office of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) and is ultimately responsible for the delivery of SBA’s programs and services throughout the 71 West Texas counties that make up the West Texas District.  

In this episode, you’ll hear important information from Calvin about the many resources and support available to small businesses in our area, and across the United States. He’ll share his personal insights into the basics (and importance) of writing a solid business plan, as well as the “team” he believes every small business owner need in their corner.

In this episode, you’ll hear of the amazing love, encouragement and work of Calvin’s mother, Nancy Randolph Davis. In 1949, she was the first African American student to enroll in what is now Oklahoma State University. Davis was a Civil Rights Pioneer and an active advocate. Since 1999, OSU has continued to honor Davis with many awards, a statue, and buildings named in her honor. Please visit to learn more about the incredible life she lived.
