Keep it Local this Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner which means if you haven’t started thinking about gift ideas for your favorite girls—you’ve come to the right place. At First United Bank, we love West Texas. The Bank started here in 1907 and we’ve continued to grow and support West Texans ever since.  In the SPIRIT OF WEST TEXAS, we’ve put together a list of seven of our favorite, local Valentine’s Day treats that are sure to put a smile on the face of every wife, girlfriend, daughter or best friend.
  1. Wine from Farmhouse Winery-
Farmhouse Winery is family-owned and their delicious wines are made from grapes grown in Brownfield, TX. You can order online or stop in to check out their gift shop and enjoy a wine-tasting.
  1. Candle from Circle 21 Candles-
These high-quality soy candles originated in Amarillo, TX and are named after the Circle 21 owner’s family ranch. Each candle is deliciously fragranced and poured into recycled wine bottles with a cork lid that has the Circle 21 logo branded onto it with a hot iron. What could be more West Texas than that?
  1. Our Favorite Local Frosted Sugar Cookies-
Sweetie Cookie Company- Sweetie Cookie Company is owned by a life-long West Texan who lives in Lubbock, TX. She specializes in custom-decorated cookies that will fit any theme or idea you have in mind, and the flavor will not disappoint! Sweetie Cookie Company’s cookies are baked from scratch and melt in your mouth. The Ruffled Cup- The Ruffled Cup originated in Amarillo, TX but has since expanded to Lubbock! Although you absolutely cannot go wrong with a cupcake from the Ruffled Cup, their frosted sugar cookies are just about the best thing there is! Let’s Celebrate- Located in Seminole, TX, this bakery is a local favorite and is owned by a young Seminole-native who began baking at 18! While they have a case full of mouth-watering baked goods, the real crowd pleaser is their decorated sugar cookies! Check out her website for pictures of her Valentine’s Day designs. The Cake Company- The Cake Company opened in 1999 in Canyon, TX and has been a Canyon staple ever since. Stop in and pick your Valentine up a treat and if your Valentine has dietary restrictions, they offer selection of sugar-free, egg-free and gluten-free options.
  1. Flowers from Grayce Floral-
Grayce is owned by two lifelong friends in Lubbock, TX. You can stop in for a pre-made arrangement or call ahead for a one-of-a-kind, custom floral design.
  1. Purse from Libby Lane Leather-
Libby, of Libby Lane Leather, was raised on a fourth-generation cattle ranch outside Amarillo, TX. She returned to Amarillo after attending the Chicago Institute of Design with the vision of crafting durable, functional and stylish accessories from domestically sourced leather—and that’s exactly what she did. From big to small, there’s a Libby Lane purse for every Valentine!
  1. Charcuterie from Books & Board-
Books & Board is the creation of First United Bank’s very own Marketing Director! She and her husband hand craft elaborate and delicious charcuterie boards for crowds of just about any size. Message her for a Valentine’s board for two or for a board big enough for your entire Valentine’s Day party!
